We offer several versions of the Kids’ Carpentry program to make learning woodworking available to as many kids as possible! Our specific programs are constantly changing with the school year, but you can learn more about how they are designed on our About page.
Current Programs
Kids’ Carpentry Classes are a hands on toy building experience designed to teach girls and boys, ages 5-10, practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on the safe use of hand tools. While kids construct fun and exciting projects they are also empowered to become independent thinkers – building confidence, self-esteem, and a repertoire of practical skills that will last them a lifetime! At the end of the session, each child will go home with at least two but often four or more wooden toys or games that they have made and painted by hand.
Classes At Our New Location
Register Now for Sunday Programs are at our Kids’ Carpentry Workshop in its NEW LOCATION in Columbia City! New Classes start September 8th.
Classes At Community Centers Near You
We also have classes at your local Community Center on afternoons, evening and weekends. These are similar to our Kids’ Carpentry hands-on toy building classes but hosted by Seattle Parks & Recreation at the locations below. Classes are 60-90 minutes and run for 5-8 weeks. At the end of the session, each child will go home with at least one but often three or more wooden toys or games that they have made and painted by hand. Register for community center classes through Seattle Parks and Recreation SPARC page. For Evening or Weekend Classes, look for us under “Art and Crafts”
Group Events
Kids’ Carpentry would love to design a project for your group, school, club or troop. We will work with you to design and teach a project to a group of kids using minimal power tools and maximum involvement. We can create opportunities for kids to be involved in the entire design process or just the fun of building it while we teach basic carpentry and safety techniques. Contact us to get started!
